1 Corinthians 12:4-7 says: “There are diversities of gifts but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:”
I’m forever grateful to God for having gifted me with the ability to interpret dreams, let alone a media platform to help and assist those in need of interpretation of dreams and this of course is for the profit of all. As much as I’m humbled to be used by God as a vessel for the interpretation of dreams, I’m blessed to be carrying the confidence of Joseph.
Genesis 40:8 says: “And they said to Him, We each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it.” So Joseph said to them, do not interpretations belong to God? Tell them to me please.”
I’ve heard many people ask “how does one hear God” or “how does God speak?” Well, the answer to that question is that God speaks all the time; in fact He’s a speaking God, he said: ‘Let there be light and there was light”, do you know that right now where you’re sitting there’s FM sound waves in your room? The reason why you can’t hear it, is because you’re not tuned into any FM radio station in order to hear. Most people don’t know how and/or have not been taught how to hear God. Just because you can’t hear Him, doesn’t mean He’s not speaking. The good thing is that He’s forever speaking and those times where He seems silent; He would still speak through His servants, the prophets.
David once said:“The word of the Lord is lamp onto my feet and light onto my pathway” Psalm119:105
This means that it’s one thing to have the word as lamp unto your feet but it’s another, to have it as light onto your pathway. Notice the word “light” and “pathway”, which simply means “revelation”; when you have revelation, you’ll easily walk through that pathway and reach your destination in life. By revelation therefore we understand that God speaks in four ways, dreams being one of the ways in which He speaks.
Looking at Numbers 12: 6-8, the bible says: ” Then He said, “Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream. Not so with My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My house. I speak with him face to face, even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?” NKJV
The first way in which God speaks is through dark sayings, in the NIV version it is referred to as “Riddles”. Other translations would refer to it as “one way or the other” or “parables” or “circumstances”. For example, you might be driving on the road and suddenly you have a puncture on one of your car wheels, all upset you stop the car to fix your wheel for 20 minutes, once on your journey you find out that there was a terrible accident ahead of you 20 minutes earlier. This was God who spared your life from an accident through a riddle.
God spoke to Samson in a riddle once; as Samson was on his way to get his wife, he fought with a Lion and overcame. After some time, on his way back to his parents he saw the lion’s carcass with honey in it. Samson was not oblivious to it; he understood this to be one of the ways in which God speaks; in riddles. Samson’s Father would then throw a party at which young men would gather as per custom. Here Samson proposed a prize to any of the men that would be able to explain the riddle he had encountered.
“But if you cannot explain it to me, then you shall give me thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothing.” And they said to him, “Pose your riddle, that we may hear it.” So he said to them: “Out of the eater came something to eat, And out of the strong came something sweet.” Now for three days they could not explain the riddle.” Judges 14: 13-14 – this riddle means that God is able to bring something good out of a situation, out of something or out of somebody that has oppressed you, in other words, what the devil meant for worse, God will bring sweetness out of it.
As seen above, riddles, just like dreams and visions are subject for explanation (clarification, enlightenment, revelation which boils down to interpretation). Understand that God does not speak in English; He speaks in riddles, dreams, visions or face to face.
Right now you maybe asking: “does God speak in riddles and dreams only to certain people? The answer is: “NO”. He speaks to every human being on the face of the earth both in riddles and dreams, irrespective of your religion, background, ethnicity, gender or belief. The problem is most people struggle to interpret. You may wonder, “why doesn’t God just speak clearly to you?” the answer is that it’s His nature to hide so that we may seek Him and find Him, it’s His way of knowing if we really mean business with Him. It is for the same reason that Jesus spoke in parables often. The word parable comes from the word “parabola” which means “puzzles”. It requires the gift of interpretation to know what God is saying. Although God has graced me with this gift, you too can function in this gift. It is possible to receive this gift either by stirring it through spiritual exercise, praying and fasting or by the laying on of hands through impartation by someone who already has the gift.
(see 2 Timothy 1:6-7 “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands” and Hebrews 5:14 “But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.)
Contrary to popular belief you have five senses on your body, five in your Spirit and five in your soul, for more info (see my husband book entitled: “ unveiling your book of life” on Amazon.com).
Now and then God would escalate His speech to you from riddles to dreams in other words, the reason why we dream is because we failed to understand God in riddles. See below:
For God may speak in one way, or in another, (Riddles), yet man does not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, while slumbering on their beds, Then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction. In order to turn man from his deed, And conceal pride from man,
He keeps back his soul from the Pit, And his life from perishing by the sword. Job 33:14-18
God loves us so much that He wants to spare our souls from perishing. Whether God speaks to you in riddles or dreams, it would either be concerning the past, the present or the future. The message He gives you would also be either, informational, revelatory or warning in nature. Your feelings matter while you’re experiencing a riddle or having a dream.
Very important to note, is that every time God speaks, whether through riddles, dreams, visions or face to face, it is often beyond our understanding and or ability. He does it deliberately in order to allow us to operate by faith because without faith, it is impossible to please Him – Hebrews 11:6. Many men and women of God in the bible, the likes of Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Caleb, Gideon and Peter just to mention a few, struggled to understand God’s instructions and calling in their lives but in the end, only faith got them through. It’s often “mission impossible”.
Not all dreams come from God. If you’ve been watching horror movies and the following day you dream of creatures wanting to kill you, that is a result of what you’ve been watching. Ecclesiastes 5:3 says “For a dream comes through the multitude of business (activities); and a fool’s voice is known by multitude of words.”
If you dream that someone gave you a lot of money, and day, months go by and nothing happens it means there’s something you failed to do after that dream. Most times when God spoke in the bible to men and women of God, the next step they would take would always be to make a covenant, raise an altar with a sacrifice that would then speak on their behalf and make that dream or prophetic message come to pass. They did it because they understood the word of God which says that our God is a covenant make and a covenant keeping God – Daniel 9:4. Some times they would raise an altar before hand in order to activate God to speak, like in the case of Solomon.
Most people think that Solomon asked God for understanding or wisdom, he never did it. He had a giving heart, he used to go up to the mountains to offer sacrifices to God. His giving, activated God to speak to him in a dream, it just so happened that the type of dream he had was a reality dream in which he found himself having a conversation with God. Let’s look at key verses below:
At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?” 1 Kings 3: 5
Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?” 1 Kings 3: 9
Then Solomon awoke; and indeed it had been a dream. And he came to Jerusalem and stood before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, offered up burnt offerings, offered peace offerings, and made a feast for all his servants. 1 Kings 3: 15
Can you imagine what would’ve happened had he not have made a covenant and raised an Altar before God? He probably wouldn’t have received the spirit of wisdom and riches. Thank God he had a revelation of what to do after a dream and how to seal it in order for the dream to come to pass.
